For continuous pulp and paper production, a prevention-first approach is preferable.</p><p>Specific practices include establishing equipment inspection checklists for periodic checks of wear parts such as screen drums, plates, wings and rotors; using current, vibration and temperature monitoring to detect abnormalities early; and keeping critical spare parts in stock to shorten emergency repair time.</p><p>By moving the maintenance focus forward, companies can significantly reduce sudden failure rates, improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and achieve a more stable production rhythm.</p>
